AM to PM Make-up via Vogue India

While most liners and mascaras are available in a waterproof texture, it is the kohl that’s responsible for Goth or raccoon eyes. Go easy on the khol for the day and try colorful eye pencils instead. For night time drama, experiment with eye liner wings topped with generous coats of mascara. Keep a multitasking palette in your handbag at all times. Sweep on a lighter shade for the day and blend it with a darker hue to achieve an instant smokey eye for a night out. Vogue recommends the brand new Chanel Ombres Perlées de Chanel Eye Shadow Palette, a palette with five luminous and intense shades in pearl finish that are crease-resistant and long lasting.
Lip gloss or tint, go for a natural lip colours in the shades of peach and pink for day wear. If a scarlet pout is not your thing, dab on some serious shimmer over your day colour to shine at cocktail hour.

Creamy concealers, spray foundations and mineral powders make for easy touch ups throughout the day. Frequent touch ups sounds tedious?  Invest in a long lasting foundation. We love Lancôme Teint Miracle for its skin perfecting texture, SPF 15 and a glow that lasts upto 16 hours.

Red-Carpet Ready via Vogue India

With the awards season in full swing, you can’t help but be mesmerized by some stunning beauties that tread the red-carpet with effortless ease. Finding the right outfit for that special night out is of course only half the battle, and what you need is some spectacular make-up to unleash the diva in you. Take a cue from these four lovely ladies who rock the in their glamourous avatars and bring some much needed red-carpet drama to the table. Dick Page, Shiseido’s Make-up Artistic Director, shows us how to shimmer, shine and get red carpet ready.

Notice Katrina’s “shimmering” skin, a signature look on the red carpet. To achieve this, blend an iridescent powder with a matte or satin texture for a look that barely sparkles. Powder your face, neck, décolletage and shoulders. If you have fair skin, opt for the pinks, if its darker, golden beiges are perfect.

For an intense, smouldering look, you can never go wrong with a smokey-eye. Apply eyeliner or kohl to the inside edge of the eyelid along your eye like Aishwarya and blend with some shimmer to make heads turn.

Over your mascara, dust the tips of your eyelashes with an iridescent powder. if you use an eye shadow, add a dot of a pearly white pencil to the centre of the eyelid and smudge with your finger for a mesmerizing gaze like Kareena.

Highlight your brow bones and apply a brown or gold cream eye shadow all across your eye lids for a dare-diva look. Nothing spells red-carpet glamour than a scarlet pout done right. Always line your lips with a lip liner to avoid your lip color from bleeding. Look at Freida Pinto for inspiration who does a glossy red mouth which is totally camera ready.

Make-up Trend: Gold Flecked Lipgloss

Cool toned lipglosses are very flattering on all skintones, but as we all know pinks can look a bit off key for the wintertime. But at her latest photoshoot for Filmfare, Kareena Kapoor looked completely on trend by choosing a pinky-plum lipcolor with subtle gold shimmer. The glints of light give the rather serious shade a youthful finish.

Vogue India: The Blush Factor

Come fall and most of us worry about bidding goodbye to rosy cheeks and brighter hues. Fall doesn’t necessarily mean pale complexions and muted tones raining on your make-up parade. Take a cue from our lovely ladies, and make blush your new best friend. If you’re blessed with a flawless milky white complexion a la Kareena Kapoor, peach or pink blush tones would infuse a youthful tint to your face. Dusky beauties like Deepika or Chitrangada should opt for blushes with brown or orange tones, just perfect to bring a warm glow to those cheeks.  Cream or powder, sheer or matte, this season mimic a rosy glow and a luminous complexion and get prepared to show some of those chiselled cheekbones with a hint of blush of course.

Make-up Trend: Ballet Pink Lips

Kareena Kapoor looked every bit ethereal on the cover of the latest issue of Filmfare, the look Mickey Contractor was going for was sweet and feminine, so he went for soft, and non-fussy makeup with just a touch of color on the lip. He reached for a matte formula that was still creamy and silky, and chose a soft, ballet pink shade. "It gave the look an easy sweetness," he said.

Make-up Trend: The Perfect Lipstick

At the launch of the 3 Idiots Script Book, Kareena Kapoor had fresh, understated makeup—but what makes her look flawless is her impeccably perfect lipcolor. To make sure your lipstick goes on evenly and stays put, use lip liner as a basecoat. If you're wearing a light hue, like Kareena, try a nude liner, which won't muddy your lipstick. Finish with a swipe of sheer balm or lip gloss for a touch shine.

Kareena Kapoor's Beauty Secrets in Vogue India [April 2010]

In the latest issue of Vogue India, Kareena Kapoor spills the beans on her beauty secrets. She’s always in the limelight--for her roles and her glam footprint. Here, she takes us on her beauty route.
MAKE-UP MANTRA
During the day, I wear no make-up at all. For a night out, I line my eyes with black kohl. I also love a smoky-eyed look with Yves Saint Laurent Wood Brown Long-Lasting Eye Pencil. Plus, I curl my eyelashes and use lots of Yves Saint Laurent Faux Cils Mascara. For lips, I prefer to use a pale pink lipstick.

HANDBAG ESSENTIALS
Under all the junk (my wallet, credit card and odd papers) you’ll find my favorite, M.A.C Cherish Lipstick, M.A.C Improper Copper Cream Colour Base and my Chanel Noir Le Crayon Khol. I can’t live without my kohl pencil.

SCENT OF A WOMAN
I love Jean Paul Gaultier. For special occasions, I apply Un Jardin en Méditerranée by Hermes.

BEAUTY ICONS
I think Scarlett Johansson is beautiful. I like her face, her body and her hair. I also love Julia Roberts for always looking fresh.

TRESS TALK
I love oiling my hair with a mix of almond, castor, coconut and olive oils. I do this once a month. I use a Kerastase shampoo specifically for dry hair, and follow it with a blow-dry.

BEAUTY RITUALS
I use a Lancome face wash. I try to avoid creams because of their chemical content. In cold weather, I use Clarins HydraQuench Rich Cream, and on the beach I use a Clarins sunscreen. I don’t believe in facials.

DIET CHART
I’m a vegetarian and believe in eating lots of green vegetables, like spinach, fenugreek and broccoli. I eat healthy meals with lots of whole grains and don’t cut down on carbs. I eat every 2-3 hours. At night, I usually have dal, vegetables, curd and roti or brown rice. I try to drink at least 6-8 glasses of boiled water every day.

FITNESS REGIME
I do ashtanga and power yoga for an hour every day.

Make-up Trend: A Springtime Red Lip

Rekha and Sonam Kapoor show us that age is not a factor when it comes to a classic red lip. On the latest cover of Filmfare they show us red lips are appropriate in any season. If you're a big fan of red lips and are unsure how to wear them in the spring, look for a shade that's slightly more pink. Also, skip matte formulas which can feel too stiff. A swipe of sheer balm will give even bold colors a lightweight and airy feeling.

Make-up Trend: Natural Nude Blush

Perhaps because she was taken away by so many of her fans' loving messages, Kareena Kapoor's cheeks were full of natural color, she glowed on Karan Johar's show Lift Kara De. To give yourself a boost that's just as believable, look for a sheer pink blush with brown undertones. Swirl on the apples of your cheeks, sweeping upwards towards your temples. The wider application and deeper color will help you avoid the made-up, doll look.

Make-up Trend: Vivid Smoky Eyes

Kareena Kapoor graces the cover of L'Officiel India this month, looking stunning in smoky eyes and pale pink lips. To get her look, apply a silver-gray eye shadow across lid and blend upward to natural crease then sweep along lower lashline. Blend a matte black shadow in the upper inner corners for an ultra dramatic look. Complete the look by lining the upper lash line and inner rim of eye with a dak black eye pencil. Keep lips soft and subtle with pale pink gloss

Make-up Trend: Dewy Skin

At the unveiling of the Lonely Planet Magazine, Kareena Kapoor's skin glowed on stage. For a similar effect, polish your skin with a gentle exfoliator with round scrubbing beads, which are gentle enough for sensitive complexions. Follow with a lightweight moisturizer on dry areas like the forehead and cheeks, where there are fewer oil glands. If you still need a bit of coverage, brush on translucent powder instead of pressed—it provides an airy, more natural finish.

Make-up Trend: Mossy Green Eyeliner

At the Stardust Awards, one couldn't help peek at Kareena's gorgeous green eyeliner when she accepted her award of the night. The eyeliner really made her gray-green eyes pop like no other. The trick with bright eyeliner is that it will give you pizazz without making you look like you're 15. To avoid making it look garish, apply a thin line and wing it at the edges. Also, keep the rest of the face soft and simple.

Make-up Trend: Fresh Winter Skin

Femina Magazine has decided on the following ladies to be on their 50 Most Beautiful Woman Issue: Katrina Kaif, Priyanka Chopra, Deepika Padukone and Kareena Kapoor. All four of them look absolutely stunning on their respective covers. One thing they all have in common is gorgeous skin. To get your skin to look as fresh in the winter as well, blend a dab of moisturizer with a dose of tinted moisturizer. You'll get an even and subtle application, and a much needed glow.

Make-up Trend: Matte, Red Stain

On this month's issue of GQ India, Kareena Kapoor was seen channeling Marilyn Monroe with the curls and that white halter dress. You can't have a Marilyn without a red lip, "That's why I chose the semi-matte shade because it's a very pigmented blue true red which is perfect for her fair skin," said make-up artist Mickey Contractor. To keep the shade from looking too shocking, apply it very sheer, and keep the eyes shimmery and soft."

Make-up Trend: Glam Eyes

I absolutely love Kareena Kapoor's 'glasses and nose ring' look in 3 Idiots, but at the 3 Idiots premiere she rocked the 'glammy smoky eye and dewy look'. The look was a sexy eye with a hint of smokiness. To get the same look, blend a bronzy eye shadow in the crease, a wash of copper eye shadow on the lid, and line your upper and lower lash lines with charcoal eye liner. On the bottom lashes, layer black and charcoal shadow, and finish with two coats of black mascara.
