Hair Trend: Sideswept Bangs

Diya Mirza made her bangs more versatile this winter by growing them out on the latest issue of Andpersand. This way you can push them off to the side or pin them off of the face. Before you blow dry, prep hair with a styling aid to give them a little hold and flexibility. Aim the nozzle of your blow-dryer down and away from your face, and mist your bangs with hairspray to keep it in place.

Diya Mirza's Beauty Secrets [Vogue India]

MOISTURE FIX: I have combination skin, which can be both oily and dry, so I religiously moisturize twice a day with a water-based hypo-allergenic moisturizer I’ve discovered from a French brand Uriage.

DIVA DIET: I start my mornings with warm water and fresh lime to detox. When I eat simple food without too much spice and oil, my skin stays healthy. I eat lots of fresh and wholesome fruit and veggies. Anything in excess is a no-no.

RED CARPET ROUTINE: I like to keep it simple. I use a light coverage of M.A.C Studio Fix Foundation. I enhance my eyes with Bobbi Brown eyeliner, curl the lashes and then brush on mascara. I add a little shimmer from Make Up For Ever to highlight the cheekbones and finish with gloss from Bobbi Brown.

SHADY LADY: I don’t even step outside without sunscreen. Right now I’m using Vichy Capital Soleil with SPF 50, so my face stays protected for up to eight hours.

MUST HAVES: A tinted strawberry flavoured lip balm, a mascara and a technakohl pencil, all by M.A.C

HEAVEN SCENT: My signature fragrance is DKNY Be Delicious

GOING PRO: I insist on using professional makeup and carry my own kit everywhere. Unlike other actresses, I can’t use thick Kryolan panstick; instead I use a liquid base and translucent powder from M.A.C Pro. I first learned how to use make-up professionally.

Make-up Trend: Bronzy Eyes and Pink Lips

On the latest issue of Harper's Bazaar India, Dia Mirza shows us the freshest summer look ever: gold brown eyes and sweet pink lips. To get her look, line your eyes with a dark brown pencil, and smudge with a flat brush. Sweep bronze shadow over the lids. Curl lashes, and apply two coats of black lengthening mascara. Brush a bronzy-peach powder brush on the apples of the cheeks. Using a nude-pink lip pencil, line lips slightly beyond the edges to make them look full. Smooth on a sheer pink lip gloss.

Make-up Trend: Layered Lipstains

At a recent wedding, Diya spiced up her lips with a pink tint. Diya rarely wears bright lips so her make-up artist decided to layer lip tints to create the perfect lip look. Diya's make-up artist decided to do a wash of color on the mouth for more of a stained feel rather than a heavy lip. Also, the same deep pink tint on the was used on her cheeks and lips, then topped with a pink gloss.

Make-up Trend: Youthful, Glowy Skin

Diya Mirza looked sophisticated at Kaifi Azmi's book launch, and her make-up reflected just that vibe. To give your skin a young, glowy appeal, blend on a lightweight foundation. Apply it with a foundation brush to give it a more luminous feeling. A dose of a peachy highlighter on the apples of the cheeks adds a natural flush.

Make-up Trend: Pearly Nude Lipgloss

Dia looked absolutely stunning with soft, yet natural eyes with a hint of color on her cheeks and pearly nude lips. To get her lip look, choose a shade with pink undertones. When you're doing a beige lip, you need something on your eyes. Otherwise, you look lifeless. A hint of kajal or mascara would look great with a nude lip.

Make-up Trend: Frosty, Baby Pink Lips

Diya Mirza's make-up artists Bharat and Doris Godambe, gave her frosted lips an elegant update by toning down the icy element of her satiny pink lip color. To get this look, apply your favorite frosty lipstick then blot your lips with a tissue to remove some sparkle. Finally, smear Vaseline over your lips to give them a creamy (not shiny) appearance.

Make-up Trend: Sheer Lip Stain

Spring is here and it's time to lighten your look. Wearing a heavy lip right now can look dated, follow trend-setters like Diya Mirza.

Lip stains are designed to last, so make sure your lips are well moisturized before using a stain. If yours are dry at all, drink more water to get back on track and wear a gloss in the meantime.

Cory Walia and Vimi Joshi's Tips to Look Gorgeous in Minutes

Cory Walia advises not to do the following when in a rush:
It's better to go simple than look like an experiment- don't forget to look at the mirror one last time!
  • Hold the foundation: Foundation is not a mask you can hide behind, and applying it in a hurry will always result in a patchy look. The solution: Mix even quantities of foundation and moisturizer and apply for a smooth, glossy, even skin tone.

  • Forgetting mascara! However much you may be pressed for time, do not forget the mascara. It really opens out the eyes and gives you a more 'awake' look!

  • Skip the lip liner: A lip liner takes a bit of talent and time. If in a hurry, skip it and use the lipstick or better still, lip gloss directly.

  • Switch to gloss: Matte lipsticks take time to apply evenly. Just go for lip gloss.

  • Do not experiment: Hold back that new shade of eye shadow or lipstick or even blush if you are not sure how it will look on you. Stick to tried-tested formulas when in a hurry!

Vimi Joshi, M.A.C Senior Artist, gives tips on makeup in a hurry:
If you are running out of time, here are five things she thinks you should do!
  • Run to the bathroom and wash your face well; and use a makeup remover to get the day off your face.

  • Moisturize, moisturize, moisturize. Dab on a cream, body butter, moisturizer, and smooth on till your skin is glossy.

  • Use a kohl pencil and apply mascara for your eyes to really light up!

  • Use a blush from your temples to mid-cheek for a youthful appearance. You may use a darker color on the contours of your cheek to add a more defined look.

  • Lastly, swipe on a glossy lippy, spritz on perfume and step out with confidence!

Make-up Trend: Bright Pink Lips

Dia Mirza sported a pop of pink for a dark, yet sexy photo shoot. The darker your skin tone, the more pigment you can wear. If you have light skin, try either a deep color in a sheer formula or a light shade in an opaque lipstick.

Pink protocol: Make-up artist Ambika Pillai decided to keep with the rockstar/punk look Dia was aiming for. She gave her a loud mouth, even though Dia has a light complexion. To make it work, she echoed the color on her cheeks and kept her eyes smokey and sultry with loads of charcoal liner, to give it a girly twist she winged the liner on her top lids.

Make-up Trend: Flawless, Glowing Skin

Smooth skin? Check. Minimized pores? Check. Even tone? Check. Even perfectly clean, unblemished skin can use a pick-me-up. To get a seemingly airbrushed complexion like Diya Mirza's, all you need is a tinted moisturizer and luminizing lotion. The rest of the features can be simple, allowing your youthful face to do all the talking.

Squirt a dime-sized drop of tinted moisturizer on a cosmetic wedge, followed by a pea-size drop of iridescent white liquid (don't use anything with shimmer, or you'll look sweaty, instead of dewy). Dab over your forehead, cheeks, nose and chin. Spread around face and swipe under your eyes to even out discoloration and texture.

Make-up Trend: Easy, Simple Make-up

I'm sure Diya Mirza's makeup is more than just a little eyeliner, blush and lip stain, it gives the appearance of being utterly simplistic and at the same time stunning. Keep the eyes basic: a flesh-color base all-over the lid, followed by liner on the inside of the lower line and along the upper lash line. Then swipe a pretty pink stain over lips.

Newbies
, stick to kohl pencils—they tend to be easier to work with than liquid liners. If a pencil seems stiff, soften it by wrapping a fist around the pencil for ten seconds to warm it.

Make-up Trend: Pink Lips

A great pink gloss wakes up the lips and makes you look more sparkly. It's a refreshing and gorgeous look.
Choose a shade with blue undertones, which makes teeth look whiter.
