Make-up Trend: Bridget Bardot Inspired Smoky Eyes

On the latest issue of Femina, Kangna Ranaut is seen channeling her inner Bridget Bardot, with smoky eyes, nude lips, and a 60's inspired up-do. To get her look, soften the black eye  shadow by using a creamy, shimmery shadow in gunmetal which has a transparent quality that is strong and modern. Apply your eye shadow outwards at the corners past the natural lashline to exaggerate the eye size and add a touch of drama. Finish your look with liquid liner, black mascara & beige-nude lipstick. Strong eyes look great paired with clean, uncomplicated skin; keep the look fresh by powdering the T-zone only.

Kangana Ranaut knows how to rock a cover, one look at the cover of Harper's Bazaar magazine makes you wonder if she's related to Tyra Banks. She stunned us on the cover of Harper's Bazaar India this month. To get her look remember that sheer, creamy lipstick formulas allow you to flirt with red without making a huge statement. Apply color with a lip brush, working from center to corners. Clean up mistakes with a q-tip for a precise finish.

Make-up Trend: Plum Smoky Eyes

In the latest issue of Hi! Blitz, Kangna Ranaut wows us with some gorgeous plum smoky eyes. Plums are a universally flattering color to every eye color, it makes them pop when used correctly! To get her look, brush a plum eye shadow on your lids, extending the shadow around the outer corners of your lids. Blend a black eye shadow on your outer corners and in your crease. Rim your lower lash line with white eye liner. Add black mascara just on the top lashes. Swirl a peach blush on the apples of your cheeks and blend well. Apply a coat of a light pink-violet lip gloss for fullness and shine.

Make-up Trend: Olive Smoky Eyes

Kangna's gorgeous dress was the inspiration behind her olive-toned smoky eyes on this month's issue of Cineblitz. To get her look, rim your lids with a thick black pencil, then blend olive shadow on the outer corners of your top and bottom lashes. Finish the look off with a strip of false lashes: It gives the entire look more drama.

Make-up Trend: Glittery Lip Gloss

Kangana Ranaut sparkles on the latest issue of Verve. To try a glittery gloss without looking like a kindergartner, test the formula on the back of your hand—if the resulting shimmer is smooth and uniform, not chunky, you know you have the right gloss. To balance the lips, Kangana's look is kept simple and neutral. 2010 is all about shimmer, sparkle and shine but in an understated, sophisticated way.

Hair Trend: Piecey, Choppy Hair

There's a fine line between artfully wispy and plain ol' messy hair. Kangana Ranaut got it right and you can too! First, style your hair as usual, then after rubbing a product like Aveda Control Paste between your fingers to activate it, twirl random pieces of hair using those fingers. That adds volume without the messy unruly look.

Cory Walia Shares His Perfect Day and Night Look

Make up expert Cory Walia talks about getting the perfect day or night look

Day Look
  • Keep your skin clean and luminous. Pink gives you a youthful and trendy look. So gently brush your eyes, cheeks and lips with a touch of light pink or coral.
Cory's Rec: M.A.C Eye Shadow in Pink Venus, M.A.C Powder Blush in Sincere, M.A.C Lipstick in Ramblin' Rose.

  • Keep your kohl away for the evening. Your eyes should preferably be bare during the day.

  • However, you can top them up with subtle coats of mascara in brown or gray.
Cory's Rec: M.A.C Zoom Lash in Lofty Brown.

  • A hint of gloss on the lips completes the look.

Night Look
  • Bring out the shimmering eye shadows, especially in metallic colors of silver and gold.
Cory's Rec: M.A.C Eye Shadows in Electra and Goldmine

  • Lips and cheeks should be creamier, yet more defined.

  • If the focus is on the eyes, go easy on the cheeks and lips; and vice versa.

Make-up Trend: Stay-Put Red Lipstick

We've all been there: toilet paper on our favorite stilettos, spinach in our teeth, zipper open on our jeans. But lipstick on the teeth doesn't need to be added to this list. Swipe on your favorite red and flash that smile all day long!

Help your favorite red stay in place all day and night by pressing an oil-absorbing face powder sheet against lips. Then use a second sheet to set the part of your lips that's closest to your teeth by slipping it slightly in the mouth and pressing down. That way you cover all angles.

Make-Up Artist: Ambika Pillai's Natural Look Make-Up Breakdown

Ambika Pillai, make-up expert, is all for this look. “This natural look surely is a hands-down winner,” she says.

Here’s how Ambika can achieve the look perfectly:

Pick up a foundation closest to your skin tone, not a shade lighter or darker.
Rec: MAC Studio Fix Fluid

Contour your facial features using a slightly darker shade.
Rec: MAC Blush in Margin

Use two or three shades of brown on your eyes. Sweep a single, slightly darker shade on your lids and highlight using a skin tone.
Rec: MAC Smoking Eyes Eyeshadow Quad

Use a brown lipstick with a lighter tinge only on the pout area.
Rec: MAC Lipstick in Taupe

“This look is extremely popular in Hollywood, too, where people believe in basic make-up, unlike India, where overdoing it is the usual,” adds Ambika.

Make-up Trend: Subtle Cat Eyes

  • The beauty and crispness of this look rely on the rest of the face. Make sure the brows are well defined. Your brows, lips and complexion are flawless supporting players to your cat eye.

  • If you want a thick line, start small. Begin with one layer of liner, then add on to make the line heavier. It's easier to add on more liner than take it off.

  • Any eye shape looks good in the subtle cat eye. But it's a hard look with a hooded lid, to give the eye a lift on the outer corner only, draw half a line that starts thinly from the middle of the eye and goes outward.

  • Using a thin-tipped eyeliner brush, swipe it into a pot of liner and paint it across the lashline and flick it up at the end. This product can also be smudged for a smoky look. Rec: M.A.C Fluidline in Blacktrack

  • It's less fierce than a cat eye that lines the entire eye, but it's equally sexy. Get a look like Rani Mukherjee's using a neutral shadow on the lid, then line the entire upper lid and extend the liner up a bit past the eye. For a more dramatic approach, make the line thicker towards the outer corner. Make a very small line on the outer-corner of the lower lashline and finish with mascara.

  • If you have trouble achieving a flawlessly straight line, dot the lash line with liner, then connect the dots.

  • This look instantly opens up the eye and can be worn with a bold lip or a more neutral one.

  • The upward turn and extension of the eyeliner changes the shape of the eye.
