Make-up Trend: Maroon-Burgundy Nail Polish

Funky new nail polish shades are always fun, but there is something to be said about returning to classic, flawless hues. Take Freida Pinto's burgundy tone at the amFAR Cinema Against Aids Gala at Cannes. The shimmery gold cocktail dress was sweet with an edge and the dark burgundy went perfectly with the tones of the dress. The reddish jewels picked up the gold in the dress and the clutch beautifully.

Actors Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Sonam Kapoor and Freida Pinto will be given new looks by internationally renowned make-up artists as they walk the Cannes Red Carpet this year. From May 11-22, L’Oréal Paris, official make-up artist of the Festival for 14 years, will introduce its first dream team of three make-up artists: Karim Rahman, Billy B and Rie Omoto.

They have created the new ‘L’Or L’Or L’Or’ make-up Collection especially for Cannes, which will be used to design exclusive make-up looks for all the spokeswomen present at the Festival including Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Sonam Kapoor and Freida Pinto.  Aishwarya will be sporting interpretations of the ‘L’Or L’Or L’Or’, look by Karim Rahman as she walks the red carpet with Aimee Mullins, Gong Li and Ines de la Fressange on Wednesday.

“Gold is something that inspires me to create an opulent, luxurious, bold make-up look. This is the perfect theme for Cannes and perfect for the strong personalities of the L’Oréal Paris spokeswomen. I want to bring out all their radiant, luminous sensuality,” said Rahman.

Rie Omoto will be creating the L’Or, L’Or, L’Or, look for Sonam Kapoor using gold to highlight, accentuate and emphasize the actor’s features rather than the color itself. Sonam will be walking the red carpet on May 15 with Fan Bing Bing. Rie Omoto said, “Gold is a transformational color that can take a woman from day to night and back again by simple adjustments in its application and blending.”  Freida Pinto’s ‘L’Or, L’Or, L’Or’ look created by Billy B will reflect her radiant beauty as she attends the amfAR dinner and after party on May 19. “Gold is flattering; it reflects light beautifully and makes you immediately luminous and radiant. Gold can be and really should be considered a Classic like the famous and timeless Little Black Dress,” said Billy.

Make-up Trend: Crimson Red Lips

At the Louis Vuitton Celebration for this month's Glamour covergirls Freida Printo added color with red lips with a black and white outfit. If you want to try crimson, but are afraid of it looking messy the second you leave the house, prep by exfoliating your lips and topping them with balm. Let the balm absorb for five minutes before applying the lip formula—it prevents feathering and provides a smooth base for the lipstick to adhere too. And always apply red shades just inside your natural lip line. The color is bold enough without exaggerating the shape of your mouth.

Make-up Trend: Pastel Pink Lips & Cheeks

Glamour released three covers for the month of May, and Freida Pinto was on one of them. Her cover was themed "Goddess", and looking like every bit of one, she rocked some pastel pink lips and cheeks to go with her floral Peter Som bathing suit. To get her look, apply a pastel pink lip and cheek stain on your lips and cheeks. Stains can double as a cheek stain, and it's a particularly handy trick in the winter months. The creamy, highly pigmented formula is the perfect antidote to winter complexions—and stays put longer than powder blushes, which can easily rub off. Dab the stain on the apples of your cheeks and work in the smear with your fingertips for a naturally flush glow.

AM to PM Make-up via Vogue India

While most liners and mascaras are available in a waterproof texture, it is the kohl that’s responsible for Goth or raccoon eyes. Go easy on the khol for the day and try colorful eye pencils instead. For night time drama, experiment with eye liner wings topped with generous coats of mascara. Keep a multitasking palette in your handbag at all times. Sweep on a lighter shade for the day and blend it with a darker hue to achieve an instant smokey eye for a night out. Vogue recommends the brand new Chanel Ombres Perlées de Chanel Eye Shadow Palette, a palette with five luminous and intense shades in pearl finish that are crease-resistant and long lasting.
Lip gloss or tint, go for a natural lip colours in the shades of peach and pink for day wear. If a scarlet pout is not your thing, dab on some serious shimmer over your day colour to shine at cocktail hour.

Creamy concealers, spray foundations and mineral powders make for easy touch ups throughout the day. Frequent touch ups sounds tedious?  Invest in a long lasting foundation. We love Lancôme Teint Miracle for its skin perfecting texture, SPF 15 and a glow that lasts upto 16 hours.

Red-Carpet Ready via Vogue India

With the awards season in full swing, you can’t help but be mesmerized by some stunning beauties that tread the red-carpet with effortless ease. Finding the right outfit for that special night out is of course only half the battle, and what you need is some spectacular make-up to unleash the diva in you. Take a cue from these four lovely ladies who rock the in their glamourous avatars and bring some much needed red-carpet drama to the table. Dick Page, Shiseido’s Make-up Artistic Director, shows us how to shimmer, shine and get red carpet ready.

Notice Katrina’s “shimmering” skin, a signature look on the red carpet. To achieve this, blend an iridescent powder with a matte or satin texture for a look that barely sparkles. Powder your face, neck, décolletage and shoulders. If you have fair skin, opt for the pinks, if its darker, golden beiges are perfect.

Highlight your brow bones and apply a brown or gold cream eye shadow all across your eye lids for a dare-diva look. Nothing spells red-carpet glamour than a scarlet pout done right. Always line your lips with a lip liner to avoid your lip color from bleeding. Look at Freida Pinto for inspiration who does a glossy red mouth which is totally camera ready.

Make-up Trend: Copper Eye Shadow

At the IFFI Festival in Goa, Freida Pinto may have been honored for her work in Miral, but her makeup was a touch less regal. Shimmery copper shadow is warmer and cheerier than traditional gold hues. Smudge it above and below your lashes for look that's festive and undeniably gorgeous!

Hair Trend: Big Bouncy Curls

On the latest issue of Harper's Bazaar India, Freida Pinto dressed up a pale pink dress with thick, lush curls. If hot rollers feel like too much effort, simply wrap freshly blown-out strands around 2-inch rollers. Once the hair has fully cooled, remove the curlers and brush through to keep the spirals from looking too-perfect.

Make-up Trend: Two Toned Eye Shadow

At a screening of Miral in the Hamptons, Freida Pinto topped off her flirty low bun with pretty, two-toned shadow. It's okay to use two very different shades of eye shadow as long as both are muted. In Pinto's case, a wash of sheer mauve highlighted her brow bones, while a silvery blue accented her lids. The effect is unexpectedly elegant.

Make-up Trend: Berry Stained Lips

If you've always avoided red lipstick because it feels too severe, try a berry stained hue like Freida Pinto did at the TIFF Festival. She went for a hint of berry tint, giving a berry punch to match her gorgeous dress. It looks puckery and stays on pretty well. To make the look stay-put, apply balm once the stain sets in to bare lips.

Make-up Trend: Gray-Green Smoky Eyes & Peachy Cheeks

To match her gorgeous emerald green dress, Freida Pinto sported some gray-green smoky eyes at the premiere of boyfriend, Dev Patel's new movie, The Last Airbender. To get her look, blend an olive green eye shadow all over the lids, and then apply a light gray in the creases. "The look was applied so when Freida opened her eyes we see more gray, but when she looks down we see green", said her make-up artist, Jeffrey Paul. And with just a touch of mascara and black eye liner she was red-carpet ready!

UPDATE: For the premiere of The Last Airbender in New York City, Freida Pinto's makeup artist Jeffrey Paul created a sensual but low-key look. "I wanted summery makeup that was warm, inviting and sexy, but still current and modern," he said. "I gave the cheeks a translucent glow with a bright orange cheek stain. It was sheer and shimmer-free, so it enhanced the skin with a dewy, not glittery, finish."

Instyle: Freida Pinto's Favorite Looks of Herself [May 2010]

No-Fuss Glamour
Freida says: "I like that this look is really clean makeup and an easy updo. And it's one of my favorites because it's a me-look—something I could do myself. Well, I could pin my hair up, but obviously I could never curl it like that."
Shiny Hair and Dewy Skin
Freida says: "More could have been done here—maybe a little more kohl? I just feel the look was lacking something in the eyes. Overall, though, the hair and the skin were done up really well. They've both got a little shine which goes well with the fabric of the dress.

Wispy Updo
Freida says: "Normally I keep it really safe, but that night I experimented with my hair—I quite enjoyed it actually. The overall look was meant to be simple, but the hair was meant to be fabulous."

Intense Eyes
Freida says: "The Screen Actors Guild Awards! That was probably my favorite look ever. The hair was all pulled back and as slick as possible and the eyes were dramatized, but just a wee bit. This look showed off more of me than styles where my hair covers my face. And the makeup was just fabulous."
Super Long Strands
"When I see this picture, I miss my hair length. This picture touches me. Now my hair is much shorter. I tried a pink babydoll mouth that night because the rest of the hair and makeup was so open and simple. I quite liked it actually."
Elegant Neutrals
Freida says: "I like the colors I chose to play with. I think with my skintone, nudes are very complementary. The only problem was the hair—it did not remain the way it was styled because of the texture. I’ve got a lot of hair but it’s really fine. When I left the hotel, the curls at the bottom were tighter, but by the time I reached the ceremony, they just opened up. My hair was being funny. Nothing much can be done about that."
Stress-free Hair
Freida says: "This picture was just me being me. I did not know what the red carpet was all about. I left my makeup and hair in the hands of people who knew what they wanted to do. It was an easy updo—one where you wake up, pin your hair up and walk out of the house. Which is why it matches my personality. I don’t really stress too much about my hair or my makeup."

Teen Vogue: Freida Pinto's Beauty Must Haves [March 2010]

Beating Instyle's take on Freida Pinto's beauty must-haves was Teen Vogue in March! While I was thumbing through an older issue of the magazine, I found an article on Freida Pinto. Funny how the two magazines had the same concept, but the products were completely different.

According to Teen Vogue, Freida's beauty essentials are:

Instyle: Freida Pinto's Beauty Must Haves [May 2010]

In the latest issue of InStyle, Freida Pinto reveals the secret to her gorgeous skin. “I wear sunscreen every day; that’s my cardinal rule,” the 25-year-old actress says.  “And ages ago my mom taught me to drink lots of fruit and vegetable juice. But it has to be fresh.” For the Slumdog Millionaire star, a healthy glow is only a fraction of what it means to be beautiful. “My definition of beauty is universal: good hair, good skin and a good personality,” she says.

Make-up Trend: Burgundy-Wine Lips

At the Waves Concert, Freida Pinto showed us that burgundy-wine lips look modern when paired with fresh skin and a touch of blush. Don't go heavy on the eyes with such a bold lip because it can look too harsh. Instead opt for a small stiff brush to apply color in short strokes along the natural lip line, then fill the rest of your mouth. For polished skin, smooth concealer only where needed then dab a berry cream blush on your cheeks.

Make-up Trend: Bright Skin

"I always love to show off the amazing skin of Freida Pinto," says makeup artist Jeffrey Paul, who created this look for the actress at the BAFTA LA Britannia Awards in Century City. He prepped the skin with moisturizer, a mist of balancing spray, and eye cream. His real trick, however, was making the concealer work double-duty: "I blended it below the eyes and on the lids, too. It makes a great base for eye shadow."

Make-up Trend: Understated Eyes

Freida Pinto's peachy-pink lips and sheer flushed cheeks left her looking glowy and gorgeous at Louis Vuitton's Pret-a-Porter Show at Paris Fashion Week. What made her make up really stand out was her light, understated eye makeup that didn't steal the focus from the rest of the face. If you feel too naked wearing nothing at all on your eyes, try a wash of shimmery nude shadow and just a few swipes of black mascara. Your lips should be the highlight.

Freida Pinto's L'oreal Ads

Here's a first look at Freida Pinto's new L'oreal ads. She's promoting the new L'oreal Renewal Lash Serum. So what do you think? Does she look good?

UPDATE: Here's the ad featuring Freida Pinto

The woman has such a gorgeous face, and amazing bone structure, though I wish her eyelashes didn't look so fake.
