Make-up Trend: Orange-Red Lips

On the latest issue of Jade, Asin shows us an updated version of the classic bold lip by choosing a shade with a great dose of orange. A matte orange-red lip can be achieved with a soft lip brush. You can prevent the color from looking clownish by applying a dab of lipstick or gloss to the center of your lips, then blending outwards with your fingers.

Make-up Trend: Black Eyeliner and Red Lips

Matte berry-red lips and black eye liner don't need to be overwhelming, like Asin showed us at the Filmfare nominations party. To get her look rim your upper lids, starting in the inner corners and drawing out. Thicken the line toward the outer edges, continue on to the bottom, focusing the liner only in your waterline. Then, using a small pointed brush, dab a tiny amount of champagne-gold powder shadow in the inner corners only. For the lips, dab a tiny bit of foundation on your mouth to keep the red looking as it is in the tube. Then fill your lips with a red liner, to create a base for the lipstick. Apply the lipstick on top and you're all set.

Make-up Trend: Shimmery Cheeks

If you've got well-moisturized skin like Asin, a squirt of liquid or gel blush with a hint of shimmer could be just what your cheeks need. To get her look at the announcement of The 55th Idea Filmfare Awards, choose a subtle shade that matches the natural flush of your cheeks. Then, with your middle finger, dab blush onto the apples of your cheeks and blend with both your middle and ring finger. The clean finger will pick-up any excess product—and keep you from overdoing your blush.

Make-up Trend: Peachy, Summery Cheeks

Roses are so winter! Your skin looks instantly brighter and livelier with peach blush. Complement a neutral smoky eyes like Asin, by dusting a rich apricot color on cheeks. If your skin is fair, sweep a peach blush over areas the sun would hit (cheeks, nose, forehead and chin) to warm up your face.

Make-up Trend: Ombre-Effect Smoky Eyes

For Asin's February's Filmfare photo shoot, makeup artist Mickey Contractor created "a cocktail look that's slightly less formal than what I would do for a red carpet. We did not want it to be too dramatic," says Mickey, who used M.A.C products to achieve the look.

Mickey
kept the skin simple and fresh using matte foundation and pale pink blush. He created an ombre smoky effect on the eyes using navy shimmer and gray shadows, accented with a silver-gray pencil along the lower lash lines. He muted the color of Asin's lips using a nude pencil and a swipe of sheer peachy gloss.

Make-up Trend: Pearly White Nails

“We don’t say it out loud, but I picture my client holding the award so I use a shade that won't distract away from the award,” says make-up artist Bharat Godambe, who did the make-up and nails for the Star Screen Awards' winner Asin with a pearly white shade on both the hands and feet.

“Yes, you can match the finger and toenails," says Godambe. "We decided on Rhapsody In White to make it more unexpected and fresh." If you opt for a white-ish shade, make sure it has pearly shimmer to it—save the matte white for Halloween.

Make-up Trends: Soft Eyeliner

Don’t think that eyeliner has to be fierce—it can add just the right touch of glamour, as it did for Asin. Using white shimmer on the inner corners of the eye and a silvery-gray on the lid. Accentuate your eyes by adding a navy-black kohl eyeliner on the top and lined the rim of the inside.

Make sure you keep your eyeliner in your clutch because you will want to touch it up. You’ll want to re-trace the line near the inner corner, which can fade because of the proximity to eye moisture.

Make-up Trend: Glossy Red Lips

Asin Thottumkal gave us something to talk about on the Vogue India cover this month. In a throwback to '40s glamour, she paired a ruffled Lanvin dress with glossy red lipstick.

Red lipstick is bold enough to make a statement without shine, which can look gaudy. Asin found a happy medium by going for sheer color and subtle shine.
