LFW Make-up Trends: Rahul Mishra; Nalanda Bhandari; Drashta; Kallol Dutta

With defined mouths in shades of pink, accentuated with subtly shaded eyes, and minimal blush, the models at Rahul Mishra’s show gave us a hint into what to look forward to as far as make up trends in 2009.
How-to: Apply M.A.C Pomposity Lipstick for a pop of pink, and to compliment the lips, use all three colors in the M.A.C Mineralize Eyeshadow (Trio) in Word-of-Mouth, apply the pale beige stripe all over the eye extending to the browbone, use the gray stripe to contour the eye for a subtle smokey eye. Finish off the look by using M.A.C Silver Aura Mineralize Sheersheen Loose Powder over the cheeks for a hint of color.

It was a virtual fruit salad of color at the Nalanda Bhandari show with lime green, sunkissed orange and soothing tangerine used to dramatic effect on the eyelids.
How-to: Apply M.A.C Bitter Eyeshadow from the M.A.C for Manish Arora Eyeshadow Palette all over the lid for an ethereal look. For a variation try M.A.C Eyeshadow Suite in Counterparts (the orange side) for a bright and popping look.

Blingy, shiny eyes is you could say to Drashta whose show had models sporting sparkly eye shadow and eye liner as well.
How-to: Apply M.A.C Platinum Pigment all over the eye for an eye-catching look, finish off with M.A.C Phone Me/Text Me Silver Glitter Pencil on the top lid and bottom lid.

At Kallol Dutta’s brilliant show, the make up on the models was just right so as not to distract the eye from the futuristic ensembles. With a virtually nude face, save for a light pink lip stain and mascara, simplicity ruled at the show.
How-to: Apply M.A.C Plush Lash in Plushblack for thickened and long lashes, to balance the nude look finish off with M.A.C Pink Air/White Top Pro Longwear Lustre Lipcolor for a natural stain.

Couture Week's Bridal Make-up Trends Decoded

Since you are clued in on the latest fashion trends via Couture Week, if you are a bride, here are some of the hottest makeup and hair trends for this bridal season that you just cannot afford to miss.

The cardinal makeup rule for this season is ‘less is more’, like Preity Zinta displays in the upcoming movie Heroes. So think twice before you pile on that makeup on you face or you could just end up looking like one of the dolls on the display window. Here are some tips:

Eyes

“There’s a lot of gold mixed with dark shades like brown and burgundy this season. But it should be nicely blended,” says one of Bollywood’s favorite stylists Manzoor Khan. For the liner, he suggests a mix of blue and black. “It looks really good, especially with the insides of the eye lined with kohl ,” he says.

Meanwhile, according to international stylist Vimi Joshi, acid green and deep blue are the happening colors of this season. Advocating the technique of up to down strokes instead of the normal vertical strokes, she says, “Get your technique right. Moreover, don’t forget to build up the eye color for the required intensity.”

According to Manzoor, another hot and happening trend is that of using half lashes. “It goes a long way in giving a complete lift to the eye. But it must be done very carefully,” he cautions.

And how can you forget the lower eye lid. “Go for the shadow effect and top with slight glitter. Blend the color upward to create an illusion of lifting the eye,” Vimi suggests.

Lips
Lip color is highly dependent on one’s skin color. For those with a lighter skin tone, Manzoor suggests a mix of soft peach and orange for a fresh look. Meanwhile, for brides with a darker skin tone, he suggests a mix of beige and brown. “Top it up with just a hint of gloss. Don’t go overboard with the gloss as it will be difficult to keep topping it up,” says Manzoor.

Face
Cut down on the base. “Infact, I prefer using it only when it’s needed,” Manzoor says. “Avoid glittery blush,” Manzoor warns. For those with a darker skin tone, he suggests colors a copperish blush topped up with a slight bronzer. If you have a lighter skin tone, go in for colours like peach or soft baby pink for the day function.

For the night functions, makeup artistes Bharat and Dorris Godambe suggest that one could go in for slightly darker shades with just a hint of shimmer.

Nails
“Brides are not experimenting much with their nails. Most popular these days is the regular French manicure or colors like gold, peach and maroon,” Manzoor explains.
Summing up this season’s bridal look, Manzoor says, “It’s all about a lot of sheen and freshness. Less is more and the emphasis is on not going overboard. Use everything, but in proportion.”
