S/S '09 Make-up Trends: Ranna Gill

Ranna Gill's Spring collection was a mix of iridescent kaftans, dresses and bathing suits embellished with precious stones, petit point embroideries and appliqué. Mickey Contractor unified the vivacious styles by "an extremely sensual and sexy look with a long liner and burgundy mouth."

Mickey riffed on Ranna Gill's look with boldly rimmed eyes, offset by M.A.C Eye Shadow in Saddle. A brush of mascara and the eye was complete. Bold, flirtatious eyes called for a natural complexion and deep lips. Mickey perfected the models' skin with primer and foundation for a matte, velvety texture, and a dusting of loose powder. A brush of Coppertone Blush was used to contour cheeks, while lips were highlighted with Spice.

Make-up Trend: Youthful, Girly Eyebrows

Fine lines and gray hair are well-known aging culprits. Add poorly shaped brows to that list! Karisma Kapoor has the definition of young, natural brows, but many women have that surprised look from over-arched brows. They're unflattering and can be incredibly aging.

Keep the width consistent across the entire brow: fill sparse sections in with a pencil and use a brow gel to keep unruly hairs in place.

Make-up Trend: Soft, Smoky Eyes

We all love the effect and look of a smoky eye, but sometimes it can be too heavy. Take a lesson from Priyanka Chopra, whose beautiful eyes had just enough smoky by using heavy brown shades instead of grays and blacks.

Brush a nude shadow from the lash line up past the crease and then lined the upper lashline with Lancome's Le Crayon Khol in Black Coffee and smudged the line. Set the entire lid with a cocoa-hued shadow and finished by rimming the lower inner line with the Khol pencil and a coat of Lancome's Oscillation mascara.
