Make-up Trend: 60's Pale Lipped Look

The '60s washed-out makeup: long, doll-like lashes with pale milky lipstick is making a comeback, and Tanushree sports it during this photoshoot! Embrace this opaque, almost-white lipstick hue, but pair it with a burst of deep rosy bronzer to warm up your face and look a little less like a mannequin.

Older women will want to think twice about this trend. Starting in their 40s, women tend to loose the natural pigments in their skin, so a rosy beige will liven up the face.

Make-up Trend: Ageless, Flawless Skin

When it comes to beauty, it's important to pick what you put on your skin wisely. So instead of succumbing to Botox needles to get a smooth, perfect face like Rekha, try one of the new creams made with synthetic snake-venom, which helps relax wrinkles just as effectively as injectable solutions.

A qucik tip before a big red carpet appearance? Limit alcohol before a big event. No matter how much celebrating you're ready to do, cocktails will cause a dull complexion, bloating, and dark circles.

Make-up Trend: Burgundy Lips

Kareena Kapoor's look for the Globus Winter Collection "was inspired by the French," says makeup artist Mickey Contractor. "She has piercing green eyes, the perfect rosebud mouth and a sheer, radiant face—it was modern and timeless at the same time." The statement-making lips were simply achieved with M.A.C Cremesheen Lipstick in Party Line.

The mouth was able to stand out thanks to a clean slate as the background. Mickey applied M.A.C Studio Tech in NW15 with his fingers. "Using your fingers heats the product just a bit and leaves a seamless finish," he said.

Make-up Trend: Radiant Skin

She might be preggers, but Aashish Chowdhary's gorgeous wife Samita Bangargi's flawless visage shows no signs of sleep deprivation or the typical fine lines of a woman who is pregnant for the first time. The secret to youthful skin might be as close as your makeup bag, so cancel that Botox appointment and read on.

Smooth tinted moisturizer over skin with a damp makeup sponge (it creates a more seamless, natural finish). Then stroke a soft luminizing concealer wand (it's precise) into crevices that tend to look more pronounced with age, like along the laugh lines, outer corners of the eyes, top of the chin, and forehead creases.

Make-up Trend: Creamy, Red Lips

Getting red lipstick on your teeth is the beauty equivalent of a nip-slip on the runway. You can't always feel it, but inevitably it leads to haute humiliation. To prevent the former (especially when wearing this season's creamy, velvety reds) close lips on a piece of white paper and gently pull out the sheet.

Red lipstick is high-maintenance, so make sure you color within the lines. To get a super-precise line around your lips like the models displayed in Pallavi Jaikishen's designs, don't apply straight from the tube—instead, swipe a stiff lip brush across the top of your lipstick bullet and carefully paint your lips. After applying, rim the outside border of your mouth with foundation to create a neat, kissable pout.

Make-up Trend: Winged Smokey Eyes

Priyanka Chopra rocked out gray-black winged smokey eyes earlier this week. She passed up the usual 'color coordinating smokey eyes with clothes' for soft feminine gray and black. And rather than smudgy shading, she sported a sexy winged look, created by flaring out a slight 'wing' at the outer corners of the eyes.

This look is ideal for younger women (pigment can get trapped in crow's feet and accentuate signs of aging). To flatter wide-set eyes, apply more pigment on the inner corners of your lids (sweep color up towards your brows). If you have close-set eyes, focus on the outer corners.

Make-up Trend: Deep Emerald Eyeliner

Kareena sports the perfect smoky eye—giving the traditional black smokey eye a twist by pairing it with emerald green eyeliner, her gaze looks sultry and sexy with a mix of black and green shades.

After rimming eyes with a charcoal hue, layer on another coat using a dark green shimmery shade.

Make-up Trend: Smudgy, Smokey Eyes

Celina Jaitley displays the perfect amount of smokiness with black and brown eye shadow. To create the perfect smokey eye with a hint of shimmer and pop, mix the black and brown eye shadows together. Pile on the black eye shadow wet to get the eye shadow really dark and smokey. Go over the crease with a dark brown eye shadow. Make sure to blend any harsh lines.

To give it a hint of shimmer add some iridescent sparkle eye shadow to really make your eyes pop.

Make-up Trend: Shimmering Bronzed Body

"We wanted Deepika to look like a woman who loves going to beach parties and cabanas," says Mickey Contractor, who created her gorgeous look. Mickey added, "She actually goes to the beach. Her skin color is really the most important part of her makeup, and it's not about looking tan. It's about looking gorgeous with a perfect color on the face and body."

He applied M.A.C Sun Dressing on her entire body. "It's not really makeup," he says. "It's a foamy long-wear fake tan but it's not yellow or orange—just a really good color to warm her skin up a little like a girl who's gone to the beach."

Vogue India Speaks to Pakhi Monani

Former make-up artist at M.A.C Cosmetics, Make-Up Lounge proprietor Pakhi Mohanani speaks on the hottest make-up for a variety of occasions in autumn.

On the inspiration behind a make-up lounge
I think the fact that I can make someone smile; my clients feel so excited when they get transformed. That feeling gives me a high.

On the hottest trends in make-up
Summer was about color... a lot of color on the lips and eyes. In autumn, it will be a lot more color but in more subtle forms of browns, scaling a range of plums, berries and burgundies in warmer tones.

The look now is dark eyes and darker mouth; the mouth is being given a lot of emphasis; colors of burgundy and berry work well for desi skin tones - it’s an instant way of covering shadows around the mouth. Deep shades are being used to create a shadowy effect on the eyes. Along with warm tones of caramel and honey we will see well defined brows. The skin is underdone but done well, creating a sculpted look.

On a chic bridal look for autumn
The outfit and jewelery tend to define the look on Indian brides. So make-up should be balanced to accentuate your natural look. The make-up should enhance their features and suit your personality and facial structure.

I recommend a combination of matte and shine - matte to contour and shine to highlight the cheek bone. Dramatic eyes and color on the lips looks great with bridal couture.

Add glitter to create an opulent look. Gold and bronze is big this season; use it on the eyes or dust it on the body. A natural look is preferred by a lot of brides these days. Shades of pink, apricot honey, caramel, peach and light orange are neutral and compliment bronze and gold.

Since one has to socialize for long hours during their wedding, a tinted moisturizer or moisture-balanced make-up ensures a longer lasting fresh look. An important part of any wedding is photography! I would advise brides not to get carried away with shimmer highlighters or reflective make-up which may make for unflattering photographs.

On the ideal autumn party make-up
There is no ideal look for a party. It depends on your personality and about being yourself. It is difficult to generalize, but a universal method that is in vogue and works well is a less stark, well blended make-up. Focusing on the skin is the idea with satiny shiny smoky eyes and lush eyelashes with ample mascara. Skin is creamy yet pale and a pale mouth works well for the night. One can use gloss and shine to add more glamour.

On a fresh look for day
The look is fresh and nothing enhances skin ton than lots of moisture. One should use matte or velvet textures that don’t reflect shine. Color pencils take you where you want to without applying too much make-up. Dab a bit of blush in pastel shades. Mascara is very important, just curling your lashes and adding the mascara makes you look awake, especially for women with straightforward or down lashes.

Make-up Trend: Even-toned Skin

Discoloration and dark patches have no place on our faces! Luminous, even-toned skin makes you look years younger. To undo the damage the sun causes your complexion, look for a night cream with potent levels of albatin, which inhibits melanin production.

To keep skin looking radiant, wear a sheer foundation containing SPF and glow-enhancers during the day, like Laura Mercier's Illuminating Tinted Moisturizer.

Make-up Trend: Berry-Stained Lips

If you've always avoided red lipstick because it feels too severe, try a natural-looking wash of color that won't rub off on your teeth. Sushmita Sen went for a hint of berry tint, giving a youthful I-just-ate-a-popsicle flush to her pout. It looks puckery and stays on pretty well.

To make the look stay-put, apply balm once the stain sets in to bare lips.

Make-up Trend: Flattering Brows

One-size-fits-all may work when it comes to handbags or mascara, but not for eyebrows. If you have large, expressive eyes like Kareena Kapoor, brows should not be too thick or you might seem intimidating. But a skimpy brow on a big eye is very unflattering and makes eyes look too large for the face.

Don't be afraid to fake it! Extend the line of your brows past the outside corner of your eyes to fully frame your eyes, keep thickness moderate to heavy.
